Role Overview:
As a Senior Application Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our applications and infrastructure. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will be responsible for managing and resolving production incidents, participating in change management activities, and continuously improving and automating procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Effectively manage and resolve production incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and compliance with SLAs.
Collaborate with development, sysadmin, DBA, and networking teams to participate in change management activities, including application and infrastructure changes, deployments, and upgrades.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of applications, including architecture, procedures, and operational requirements, to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure operational continuity.
Monitor applications and infrastructure effectively, proactively identifying and addressing performance issues, capacity constraints, and potential security vulnerabilities.
Control load capacity for applications, optimizing resource utilization and ensuring scalability and reliability.
Contribute to the continuous automation and improvement of existing procedures, leveraging scripting languages such as Shell, Python, and PowerShell to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with development teams to define the architecture of new applications, ensuring alignment with infrastructure standards and best practices.
Manage backup data and conduct regular restoration tests to ensure data integrity and availability in disaster recovery scenarios.
What you'll need to succeed:
6+ years of experience in similar roles, with a strong technical background in both Linux and Windows environments.
Experience with industrial schedulers such as BMC/Control-M, along with proficiency in scripting languages like Shell, Python, and PowerShell.
Knowledge of web server technologies including JBoss, TomCat, Apache, or IIS, and experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix or Grafana, and good networking knowledge including LDAP, Firewall, Reverse proxy, Active Directory, and Kerberos.
Experience with infrastructure backups and data restoration processes, ensuring data integrity and availability.
Proficiency in English (minimum B2 level) is mandatory, with Portuguese and French language skills considered a plus.
DevOps mindset with the ability to thrive in a demanding and fast-paced environment, adapting to evolving requirements and priorities.
Knowledge of Kubernetes and Openshift is a plus, along with a willingness to learn and evolve in line with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Ability to work well in a team environment, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
